Har saal 5 October ko World Teacher’s Day (WTD) celebrate kiya jata hai. World Teacher’s Day first time 1994 me celebrate kiya gaya tha. 5 October marks the anniversary of adoption of 1966 ILO/UNESCO recommendation concerning ‘Status of Teachers.’
1966 Recommendation
1966 me ILO aur UNESCO ne ‘Recommendation concerning status of teachers’ ko adopt kiya. Iss recommendation me teachers ke rights, responsibilty, recruitment and employment, etc. stated hain. Following this, ‘Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher Education Teaching Personnel,’ 1997 me adopt kiya gaya. UNESCO, ILO, UNICEF aur Education International WTD ko promote aur celebrate karte hain.

World Teacher’s Day 2020
WTD 2020 ki theme ‘Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future‘ hai. Iss year education system buri tarah affect hua hai, owing to the pandemic. WTD ek opportunity hai to thank the teachers around the world. Teachers, jinhone ye ensure kiya sabhi ko right education mile- ‘leaving no one behind.’

As per UNESCO report, as of March 25, 165 countries me school closed hain due to the pandemic. Because of this, around 1.5 billion students aur 63 million school teachers affect hue hain. Futhermore, ye number aur increase kar sakta hai.

UN SDG-4 on education 2015 me adopt kiya gaya hai. SDG-4 ‘inclusive and equitable quality education’ suggest karta hai.
Owing to the pandemic, UN ne International Task Force on Education constitute kiya. Task Force contract teachers ke livelihood aur employment ko safeguard karne ke liye create kiya gaya. Iss Task Force me 90 Governments and 50 International and Regional organisations included hain.
