Reserve Bank of India ne Lakshmi Vilas Bank par 17 November se 1 month ka moratorium impose kiya gaya hai. Moreover moratorium ko RBI application ke Sec 45 of the BR Act se impose kiya gaya hai. After Moratorium Imposition, account holders and creditors is period ke under Rs 25,000 hi withdraw kar sakte hai.
“The financial position of The Lakshmi Vilas Bank has undergone a steady decline with the bank incurring continuous losses over the last three years, eroding its net-worth. Further, the bank is also experiencing continuous withdrawal of deposits and low levels of liquidity. It has also experienced serious governance issues and practices in the recent years which have led to deterioration in its performance. The bank was placed under the Prompt Corrective Action (PCA) framework in September 2019 considering the breach of PCA thresholds as on March 31, 2019.”

After Moratorium Imposition Kya Restrictions Hote Hai?
Above statement me RBI ne mention kiya hai ki Lakshmi Vilas Bank par moratorium impose kyu kiya gaya. Moreover, is imposition se depositors ke withdrawal ko Rs. 25,000 par capped kar diya gaya hai. Even so is withdrawal limit me all types of accounts included hai. Furthermore, higher withdrawals sirf unforeseen expenses ke liye allowed hai. Expenses like, medical treatment, marriage, higher education, etc me depositors ko withdrawal allowed hai. But in unavoidable emergency me bhi Rs 5 lakh se exceed nhi kiya jaiga.
Saving Account holders ko Kya Karna Chahiye?
- Saving Account me Auto-Credits ko stop kare – After Moratorium Imposition, Lakshmi Vilas Bank ke savings account holders ko auto-credits stop karna chahiye. And if koi aur saving account na ho to kisi financially stable bank me account open karna chahiye.
- Stop Large Amount Auto Debit From Bank – If mutual fund SIPs, loan EMIs, insurance premium payments etc., LVB account se auto debit ho raha hai. And vo Rs. 25,000 se exceed kar rahi to to usme issues aa sakte hai. Even so, if Kisi date par Rs 25,000 se kam vala amount auto debit ho rha. So Rs 25,000 me left amount hi withdraw kar sakte hai. For example, 30 date of every month Rs 20,000 ka EMI bank se auto debit ho raha. Then account holders only left amount Rs 5,000 withdraw karne ke eligible hai.
Merge Of LVB and DBS India Ke Baad Kya Customers Jarur Kare?
- Bank account number, customer IDs Me Change – Lakshmi Vilas Bank Customers ko sari old facility new account number and customer ID par milegi. Even so both banks ke customers ko new IFSC and MICR code funds transfer and other financial transactions se pahle remember rakhna hoga.
- FD, RD interest rates – Customers ko Lakshmi Vilas Bank ke DBS Bank me merge hone ke baad deposits par current rate of interest hi milega. But term deposits (FDs) ke case me merge hone ke baad latest term deposit rates par renewal hoga.
- Loans – According to RBI notification if Lakshmi Vilas Bank borrowers se full amount payment receive hota hai. Then after bank ko moratorium period me pledged, hypothecated, or mortgaged securities ko release karna hoga. Furthermore, borrower ko merge hone ke baad on-going loan par new interest rate ka track rakhna hoga.
