Royal Enfield ne 1891 mein start bicycles banane se kiya tha. Royal Enfield ki first bicycle 1891 mein launch hui thi. Aap bhi soch rahe honge na ki Royal Enfield aur cycle? But ha ye sach hai.
Royal Enfield ne motorcycles 1901 se manufacture karna shuru kiya. Unki motorcycles World War 1 and World War 2 mein ladne wale allied forces ko supply kiya jata tha. Aur motorcycle ka tag line ‘Made Like A Gun’ rakha gaya tha.
Enfield ko lekar appreciation sunn kar Madras Motors ne Royal Enfield ko 1952 mein India mein import kiya aur Indian Army ko supply kiya. Army se Enfield ki appreciation aane par motorcycles ki import badhti chali gayi. So Madras Motors ne Enfield ke saath tie up karke aek joint manufacturing plant madras joh ki aaj ke Chennai se jaana jata hai waha setup kar diya.
1970’s-1980’s tak toh Enfield most loved mid-range bikes, yani bikes from 250 cc to 750 cc ho chuki thi. Aur bike ko purchase karne ke liye waiting period of 6 months to 1 year ka lag chuka tha!
Royal Enfield ki bike old technologies se manufacture ki jati thi. Jab 1991 mein foreign brands with japanese technologies such as electric start, modern elements etc tab Enfield ka craze kam ho gaya tha. Aek time par company itne losses mein tha ki bankruptcy declare karne ka condtion aa gaya tha.

But Indian brand Eicher Motors ne brand ko buy kar liya. But unke efforts ke bawajood bhi enfield ki sales mein koi change nahi aaya, aur unhone brand discontinue karne ka decision le liya. But Eicher Motors ke owner ke son ne board se request kiya ki brand ko aek aur mauka diya jaay aur Siddharth Lal the owners son would personally take charge of the brand.
Siddhart Lal ne face of the brand change karne ka decision liya aur some modern touches Royal Enfield ke bikes to diya. Some of the changes were like electric start, a new model called ‘Thunderbird’ for the youth. Yeh actions kene ke baad bikes ki sales mein change aane lag gaya aur bikes popular hogaye.
Royal Enfield, 2000 mein sirf 2000 bikes ki sale kar payi thi aur 10 saal baad yani 2010 mein 50,000 bikes ka sale kiya tha! Yani 10 years mein 25x growth hu hai company ka!
